The current Library Director is Kathy Harrington.

This division is responsible for operating the Public Library located at 514 S. Mabel Street.  The Library is open to the public five days a week at the following times:  Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., Thursday, 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  The Library offers the use of five computers to the public.  These computers are available for ordinary computer word processing and other activities as well as interacting with sites on the worldwide Internet.  The Library has a lending circulation of 13,053 books that are made up both of classic literature and modern popular reading material.  In addition, the library has 1,360 videos available for rental.  The Library conducts several children’s programs during the year as well as G.E.D. class opportunities.  Use of the Library is limited to those citizens with a library card.  The Library cards are free to residents living within the City Limits and are available to County residents and other residents for a small yearly fee.  The current facility is small and stays quite busy.  There are plans being discussed to locate to a new facility with expanded square footage and services in the future.  The Library Director is also the Staff Liaison to the appointed Library Board.
