The City of Ferris adopted the City Manager form of government by ordinance in April 2005. The City Manager is selected by the City Council and serves at their pleasure. The ordinance adopting this form of local government stipulates that the City Manager is responsible for the management and supervision of the day-to-day operations of the Ferris City Government. That position is also responsible for all personnel matters of City employees not directly appointed by the City Council. In addition, it is the responsibility of the City Manager to prepare the annual budget and to advise the City Council of actions that need to be taken by the local government. This position is also responsible for the implementation of all directives and decisions of the City Council.
